Thomas Hoepker (*1936 in Munich) studied history of art and archaeology in Göttingen and Munich from 1956-59. Starting in 1962 the is traveling for ten years around the world and made several important reports. With two films T.Hoepker helps the german magazin 'Stern' to establish the relief organization for the famine in Ethiopia. 1974  Hoepker moves as correspondent with his wife Eva Windmöller to East-Berlin. Since 1981 T. Hoepker is living and working in New York. 

Until 2007 Thomas Hoepker was President of Magnum Photos.
